Manual and Automatic Transmissions
Utilizing the same design as Z®, Frontier's 6-speed wide-ratio manual transmission is geared for starting performance
and at-speed economy. It takes full advantage of every ounce of horsepower and torque from the VQ engine. Shifting
from first to second or from third to second is much smoother and easier with triple-cone synchros in second gear.
And double-cone synchros in first, third, and fourth ease shifting to the other gears. Frontier's 4-cylinder engine
features a 5-speed manual transmission.
Frontier's 5-speed automatic transmission is ideally geared for the 265-hp V6, offering a high-performance control
system adopted to achieve excellent acceleration, performance, fuel efficiency, and shift quality. Its advanced,
lightweight design is geared to make the most out of the VQ engine.

Towing Capacity
At 265 horsepower, the 4.0-liter 24-valve V6 cranks the most horsepower we've ever put in Frontier. Combine that
with 284 lb-ft of torque, and you've got the brute strength to pull up to 6,500 lbs. Tow your favorite boat or

Vehicle Dynamic Control
If your Frontier begins to oversteer (fishtail) or understeer (plow forward), this available advanced system can
reduce engine output and/or apply appropriate brake pressure to specific wheels, to help keep the vehicle on it's
steered path. 4x4 automatic models only.
VDC cannot prevent accidents due to abrupt
steering, carelessness, or dangerous driving techniques. Always drive safely. |

Braking Technologies
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) rapidly pumps the brakes during hard braking to help keep your wheels from locking
up and to help you to steer around an obstacle. All V6 models have larger disc brakes, and 4WD models also feature
a G-sensor that reads the terrain, so the ABS can adjust to the road, dirt, gravel, or snow conditions. And Electronic
Brake force Distribution senses additional weight in the rear (such as a full cargo bed or full tank of gas) and
sends extra force to the rear brakes.

Full-size Frame Architecture
Frontier borrows heavily from Titan's full-size F-Alpha frame architecture—a fully boxed, all-steel ladder frame.
It features a Titan-inspired steel double-wishbone front suspension and multi-leaf-spring rear suspension. It also
has welded crossmembers, and is composed of super high-tensile-strength steel in strategic areas. All of this means
improved structural integrity and rigidity as well as ride quality and load-bearing capability. Which just goes
to show that Frontier delivers full-size architecture without losing the maneuverability you demand in a mid-size
truck.

With the flip of a switch, this system automatically adjusts throttle and brake pressure to help provide a more
controlled descent off-road, allowing the driver to focus on steering.

Hill Start Assist
When you find yourself stopped on an incline, available Hill Start Assist helps keep you from rolling backward
at start-up. It applies the brakes for a couple of seconds, allowing you just enough time to move your foot from
the brake to the accelerator.

4-wheel Limited Slip (ABLS)
In most situations, a spinning wheel is a bad thing. Which is why Frontier 4x4s offer 4-wheel Limited Slip (ABLS).
The system senses (a) drive wheel(s) spinning, then automatically applies the brakes to the slipping wheel(s) and
directs power to the drive wheel(s) with the best traction. (4x2 models feature 2-wheel Limited Slip.)

Switch-activated 4WD System
Frontier's very capable 4WD System features a shift-on-the-fly 4-wheel drive, which lets you shift between 2WD
and 4-HI at the switch of a dial. This system also features a 4-LO for severe off-road conditions.
