Occupant Classification
If the front passenger seat is empty or occupied by a young child, a sensor deactivates that air bag and illuminates
the warning light on the dash.
Air bags are only a supplemental restraint
system; always wear your seat belt. Do not use rear-facing child restraints in the front-passenger's seat. Also,
all children 12 and under should ride in the rear seat properly secured in child restraints, booster seats, or
seat belts according to their size. Air bags will only inflate in certain accidents. See your owner's manual for
more details. |

LATCH System
Frontier's Crew Cab trim is equipped with the LATCH System (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren). This system
lets you secure LATCH-compatible child restraints in the second row without having to use seat belts or a locking
clip.

Snug Kids
A properly installed child restraint is one of the best ways to help keep a child safe in a moving vehicle. This
fact motivated us to create an industry first: The Snug Kids Child Safety Seat Fit Guide. A guide that lists child
seats that fit the rear seats of Nissan vehicles, as well as offers invaluable tips on correct installation. Nissan
Child Safety Seat Fit Guides are available for the Frontier Crew Cab and the Frontier King Cab.

Vehicle Security System
Consider the Vehicle Security System a watchful eye while you're away. This system flashes the headlights and sounds
the horn if there is an attempt to open the doors without a key.

Vehicle Immobilizer System
The Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System makes it more difficult for anyone to steal your truck without your actual
key. A microchip inside the key sends a signal telling the engine to start. Without the key, the chip, and the
signal, your Frontier won't start.

Locking Tailgate
Frontier's quick-release tailgate lets you open it with one hand. But things aren't so easy for strangers. The
tailgate is also lockable, which helps keep your cargo secure and helps keep the tailgate where it belong--son
your truck.

5-star Side-impact Safety Rating*
The Frontier received NHTSA's highest rating for side-impact (front and rear seat) crash-test safety—evidence that
Nissan is committed to helping protect you and your family.
*Government star ratings are part of the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA's) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). A 5-star rating is the highest
government safety rating for front and rear seating positions in side-impact crash tests. Manufacturer's note:
2005 Frontier model tested. 2006 model structurally unchanged from 2005. |

Dual-stage Front Air Bags
Frontier's Advanced Air Bag System features dual-stage supplemental front air bags that incorporate seat belt sensors
and a front passenger occupant-classification sensor. The air bag deployment adjusts according to seat-belt usage
and crash severity.
Please keep in mind that air bags are a supplemental
system and must be used in conjunction with a seat belt. Also, a rear-facing child restraint must never be placed
in the front passenger's seat. In fact, all children 12 and under should ride in the rear seat properly secured
in child restraints, booster seats, or seat belts according to their size. And please see your King Cab owner's
manual for specific information about the safest way to secure a child restraint in a Frontier King Cab.

Actual air bags deflate after deployment. |

Side Curtain Air Bags with Rollover Sensor
Frontier's advanced safety technology includes available roof-mounted curtain supplemental air bags for side-impact
and rollover protection, along with a rollover sensor system. When it detects an impending rollover, the system
deploys the standard roof-mounted curtain supplemental air bags. These air bags remain inflated long enough to
help provide enhanced protection in the event of multiple rolls.

Side Seat Air Bags
Frontier offers available driver and front passenger side-impact supplemental air bags. They are built into the
front seats (not the door), so they're still in the right place if you change your seat position.

Crumple Zones
Crumple zones are strategically designed at the front and rear to help absorb crash energy. That way, less of the
impact gets transferred to the passenger zone — where you are.

Side-impact Door Beams
High-strength side-impact door beams are strategically placed to help protect occupants in the event of certain

3-point Seat Belts
Never forget, seat belts are still your primary restraint in any vehicle, no matter how many air bags there are.
That's why Frontier features 3-point Seat Belts for every seating position, including the center rear. The driver
and front passenger seat are also equipped with pretensioners that automatically help tighten the belts when the
front air bags deploy, as well as load limiters that help give a little when too much force is put on the belt.
