Nissan Advanced Air Bag System
The Nissan Advanced Air Bag System features dual-stage front air bags with seat belt sensors that inflate at different
force levels, depending on seat belt usage and the severity of the frontal crash. Plus, if the passenger seat is
empty or occupied by a young child or a child-safety seat, an occupant-classification sensor is designed to turn
off that air bag.
*Air bags are only a supplemental restraint
system; always wear your seatbelt. Do not use rear-facing child restraints in the front-passenger's seat. Also,
all children 12 and under should ride in the rear seat properly secured in child restraints, booster seats, or
seat belts according to their size. Air bags will only deploy in certain accident circumstances, see your owner's
manual for more details. Inflated air bags shown for illustration purposes only. Actual air bags deflate after
deployment. |

Curtain/Side Air Bag System
One of the biggest advances in Murano safety: Curtain side-impact air bags cover the side windows and help protect
both front and rear-outboard passengers in case of a side-impact collision. Standard side-impact air bags help
protect your chest area in certain side impacts. Built into the front seats, not the door panels, so they move
with you when you adjust the seat. Murano is also equipped with a rollover sensor. When an impending rollover is
detected, the system deploys the curtain air bags and keeps them inflated long enough to help provide enhanced
protection.

Active Head Restraints
Active head restraints actually move forward toward your head when you're rear-ended, helping to reduce whiplash
injuries for you and your front passenger.

Pretensioners/Load Limiters
Front seat belts with pretensioners automatically help tighten the belts when the front air bags deploy. And if
your body puts too much force on the belt, load limiters give a little bit. Murano also features 3-point ALR/ELR
seat belts in all the passenger positions, including rear center, which allow you to install a child restraint
without the use of a locking clip.

Zone Body Construction
High-strength steel and crossmembers are added to Murano's solid construction to reinforce the cabin. Crumple zones
are strategically placed front and rear to help absorb crash energy. Hood buckling creases help to prevent the
hood from intruding in the cabin. And to help reduce injury in side impacts, pipe-style steel side-door guard beams
in each of Murano's doors. These structural elements are just a few of the more than 50 standard safety features
on every Murano.

5-star Side-impact Safety Rating*
The Murano received NHTSA's highest rating for side-impact (front and rear seat) crash-test safety*—evidence that
Nissan is committed to helping protect you and your family.
*Government star ratings are part of the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA's) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). A 5-star rating is the highest
government safety rating for front and rear seating positions in side-impact crash tests. Manufacturer's note:
2005 Murano model tested. 2006 model structurally unchanged from 2005. |

Vehicle Security System
The Vehicle Security System flashes the headlights and sounds the horn if there's any attempt to open the doors
or hood without a key, or remove key cylinders.

Vehicle Immobilizer System
The Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System makes it more difficult for anyone to steal your car without your actual
key. A microchip inside the key sends a signal telling the engine to start. Without the key, the chip, and the
signal, your Murano won't start.
