Choose a healthy dose of power (126 hp in Sentra), or go a little wild (165 hp in SE-R and 175 hp in SE-R Spec V). Factor in an independent-strut front suspension, and the road-gripping influence of a rear Multi-Link Beam suspension. Then go.

1.8-liter Engine
Sentra's 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine is designed with four valves per cylinder for greater efficiency and quicker power delivery:

• 126 hp

• 129 lb-ft of low-end torque

• Up to 400 miles on a single tank of gas*

*2006 EPA fuel economy estimates are 28 city, 35 highway. Actual mileage may vary with driving conditions - use for comparison only.

  Fuel Economy
The 1.8-liter engine in Sentra 1.8 and 1.8 S gets up to 35 miles per gallon.* That's over 400 miles on a tank of gas.

Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS)
Nissan's Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS) measures intake flow and engine rpm, then continuously adjusts the moment each valve breathes in. The result is optimal engine performance and economy, whether you're looking for torque off the line or some high-end passing power.

  Less Maintenance
Instead of having a rubber timing belt (which needs periodic replacement), the Sentra's 1.8-liter engine has a maintenance-free metal chain, saving trips to the mechanic. Also, platinum-tipped spark plugs let you go up to 100,000 miles before your first tuneup.*

*Under normal driving conditions with routine fluid and filter changes. See your owner's manual for details.

  Multi-Link Beam™ Suspension
Every Sentra is equipped with a road-hugging Multi-Link Beam suspension. A rigid subframe for the front suspension allows the use of softer bushings, so you get a comfortable ride without compromising handling or stability. And rear stabilizer bars help keep you flat through the corners.

  Anti-lock Braking System
In a quick stop, Sentra's available Anti-lock Braking System pumps the brakes up to 18 times per second, to help keep the wheels from locking up and to help you maintain steering control when you need most.

2.5-liter Engine
Check these specs:

• 165 hp with 175 lb-ft of torque

• 175 hp with 180 lb-ft of torque (SE-R Spec V only)

• Double-overhead-cam, 4-valves-per-cylinder design

• Aluminum block, heads, and pistons

• Hollowed-out camshafts

• Electronic drive-by-wire system for nearly instant acceleration

  6-speed Manual Transmission
The close-ratio 6-speed on SE-R Spec V features short throws and double-cone synchros for nearly seamless shifting.

  Engine Technologies
The Continuously Variable Valve Timing and Control System, Variable Intake System and Balancer System all help keep SE-R's focus where it should be - on performance.

  Sport-tuned Suspensions
SE-R's sport-tuned suspension firms up the shocks and springs and, for flat maneuvering through the curves and corners, stocks two fat stabilizer bars(22.0 mm in the front and 38.1 mm in the rear). A front strut tower brace under the hood helps reduce chassis twist and maintain suspension geometry through corners and over rough pavement. The SE-R Spec V features even stiffer bushings (polyurethane upfront) and springs so firm we had to ease up on shock damping just to compensate.

  Performance Tires
SE-R features P195/55HR16s with a very respectable contact patch. SE-R Spec V goes even further with wide, low-profile high-performance Z-speed-rated P215/45ZR17s.

  Helical Limited-slip Differential
SE-R Spec V's helical limited-slip differential enhances tire grip, translating to improved handling and quicker starts. And being gear-driven instead of viscous also helps it kick in faster and be more sensitive to torque.

  Brembo® Braking System
SE-R Spec V offers an available Brembo brake package featuring 12" front rotors paired with four-piston calipers, cooled by a unique Brembo air management system the same type race-car drivers rely on lap after lap, mile after mile.

Brembo® is a registered trademark of Freni Brembo S.p.A.
