Structure
The idea is to help protect the occupants in the event of a collision, using structural elements built right into
the vehicle. In the front and rear of Sentra, crumple zones help absorb impact energy. Hood deformation points
and safety stops help keep the hood from intruding into the cabin. Pipe-style side-door guard beams help absorb
the energy of side impacts. And inside the cabin, an energy-absorbing steering column compresses during certain
frontal impacts.

Front Air Bags
Sentra's "Second Generation" dual front air bags are designed to deploy with less force, to help protect
you and your front passenger.
Please keep in mind that air bags are a supplemental
restraint system and must always be used in conjunction with a seat belt. Also, a rear-facing child restraint must
never be placed in the front passenger's seat. In fact, all children 12 and under should ride in the rear seats
properly secured in child restraints, booster seats or seat belts, according to their size. |

Side Air Bags
Available driver and front-passenger side-impact supplemental air bags help protect your head and chest areas in
certain side impacts. And since they're built into the front seats - not the door panels - they move with you when
you adjust the seat.
Air bags are only a supplemental restraint
system; always wear your seatbelt. Do not use rear-facing child restraints in the front-passenger's seat. Also,
all children 12 and under should ride in the rear seat properly secured in child restraints, booster seats, or
seat belts according to their size. Air bags will only inflate in certain accidents. See your owner's manual for
more details.

Front seat belts with pretensioners
Front seat belts with pretensioners automatically help tighten the belts whenever the air bags deploy. And if your
body puts too much force on the belt, load limiters cause the belt to give a little bit. Both features help reduce
injuries.

Child Safety
Child-safety rear door locks help prevent children from accidentally opening the rear doors. The LATCH System (Lower
Anchors and Tethers for Children) lets you secure a LATCH-compatible child restraint without using the seat belts.
Snug Kids® ? the Nissan Child Safety Seat Fit Guide ? is the latest child safety program developed by Nissan
which provides parents with specific information to properly fit an infant, child, or booster seat for their late
model Nissan or Infiniti vehicles. The Snug Kids Guide was developed to help improve child safety by making sure
the right child seat is chosen and providing tips on proper installation.

Vehicle Security and Immobilizer System
The available Audio Fanatic Package includes a vehicle security system to help ensure that your Sentra stays right
where you left it. Inside SE-R's key is a tiny microchip that sends a signal telling the engine to start. Without
the chip and the key, the car can't be started.
